ARTICLE
I – NAME
The association shall be known and designated as the Bristol County
Horsemen’s Association
ARTICLE II – OBJECTIVES
Section 1) To promote and encourage equestrian activities in Bristol County
and surrounding counties.
Section 2) To cooperate with other clubs (local; state, and national) for the
benefit of equestrians in matters concerning equestrian interests.
Section 3) To monitor activities at the state and local government level to
assure fair and equal laws and regulations to see that land and trails are set
aside for the purpose of the equestrian trail rider now and in the future.
ARTICLE III – MEMBERSHIP
Section 1) Any person of good moral character and reputation who has a real
interest in the promotion of equestrian-related activities may become a member
of the Association.
Section 2) All applications for membership must be completed on an
application form, which can be provided by any member or obtained from the
secretary at any meeting.
Section 3) Membership shall be acknowledged, upon receipt of the membership
fee, by a card issued by the Association and signed by the Secretary or
Treasurer.
Section 4) All members in good standing, except youth members, shall have the
right to vote in person at annual, monthly or special meetings of the
Association.
Section 5) Any person attending a function paid in full or in part by the
Association will have to have been a member for at least two months prior to the
event.
Section 6) This Association supports the required five-member membership to
the Bay State Trail Riders Association to help its goal in establishing and
maintaining the trail system throughout Massachusetts.
ARTICLE IV – OFFICERS
Section 1) The elected officers of this Association shall be President, Vice
President, Secretary, Treasurer and Board of Directors (consisting of a minimum
of two persons). The officers and board of directors shall be elected by the
membership at the annual meeting in November.
Section 2) The officers of this Association shall be elected for a term of
one (1) year. The office of President shall not be held for more than two (2)
consecutive years (unless the membership by unanimous vote chooses to re-elect
him or her for another term). The same rule applies to the other officers. The
Board of Directors shall be elected for a one-year term.
Section 3) Any vacancies in office shall be appointed by the President with
the approval of the elected officers.
ARTICLE V – MEETINGS
Section 1) This Association shall hold an annual meeting, monthly meetings
and special meetings at such time and place as may be designated by the By-laws.
Section 2) Monthly meetings shall be held the third Friday of each month,
unless voted otherwise by the membership.
ARTICLE VI – AMENDMENTS
Section 1) An amendment may be presented for consideration if signed by five
(5) or more members in good standing.
Section 2) A two-thirds majority of votes cast is required for adoption of
any amendment.
